Hey there! My name is Annabelle. I am nineteen years old and created this blog when I was on exchange in France two years ago so that I could share all my interesting stories with you all!
So, a few primary things about me…
I was born in Los Angeles, California in the United States, on November 12th year 2000. Boston was where I spent the first five years of my life, and then my parents made a huge decision to move – I found myself beginning a whole new lifestyle in the gradually developing city of Shanghai, China. There we stayed for eight years, then we packed things up again and settled down in Taipei, Taiwan. I’ve been there ever since. My exchange was my turn to fly out on my own, to live one year abroad with a host family in a peaceful town near the French-German border.
As you can see, I’m pretty much a big mover. But moving was never a bad idea for me, I always anticipated what the new environment would bring to me, and I guess that’s why I didn’t feel afraid to be an exchange student. I was used to jumping out of my comfort zone.
English is my native language and so is Chinese. I’ve been bilingual since a very young age, and spending ten months in France, I’m glad to say that I speak French quite fluently. I blog mostly in English, but who knows, maybe you might catch a few blogs in Chinese or French!
There are quite a few things that I enjoy. The most important element in my life is no doubt music. I simply can’t live without it! I have to blast some music everyday to really feel alive. And I dig many genres – classic, pop, EDM, musicals…. Besides listening, I play music too. Piano has been a part of my life since first grade, and though I do not take classes anymore, I still play it now and then for entertainment.
What’s most related to music? I’d say dancing. I began taking ballet lessons when I was three, but sadly had to stop when I was in eighth grade because the Taiwanese school pressure was taking up most of my time. But my passion for dance has never died down! Practicing ballet has helped me a lot with my understanding of body movement, and now I try to branch out towards hip hop and modern jazz.
As a constant traveler I’ve grown to appreciate different cultures. I’ve visited many places, but not enough! There are still so many pieces of land that I haven’t trotted upon, and I look forward to cross them all out from my bucket list in the future.
And lastly, as a teen born in the era of technology… I enjoy using social media. So feel free to follow me on Instagram @a.nna.belle.mou / add me on Facebook: Annabelle Mou
