Hey guys! Welcome back. Or should I say, I’m back.
I’d like to give an update on what’s been going on in my life over the past two years. My absence from posting on my personal blog may have explained some things – I was too caught up with things, busy integrating myself into yet another new educational environment. I’d transferred to the bilingual department at my school, leaving the local division in determined pursuit of a college education abroad.
But there’s also another reason I haven’t been writing, and it’s taking me some courage to admit it.
I didn’t know what to write about. My exchange year in France had come to an end, and my blog was created on the foundation of my status as an exchange student, serving as a platform for me to share my unique experiences in a foreign country. People were curious to read about the other sides of a country they wondered and fantasized so much about. Now that I’d left the country and returned to my previous lifestyle in Taiwan, it felt like people would lose interest. Even I felt disinterested in my own life – school, textbooks, AP courses, SAT testing, scrambling to save my GPA… who would want to read about that?
But over time, memorable things worthy of sharing did occur, and I haven’t had the chance to put them down in writing yet. With college applications done, I’ve finally had the peace of mind to sit down and think about the past two years that have greatly changed my life course and gave me new insights on who I am.
Here’s how I think I’ll be managing my blog in the near future. I’ll be sharing current thoughts and updates, but from time to time also writing about past events that I’ve wanted to share but haven’t had the opportunity to.
So stay tuned!
